Canadian violinist David Stewart has had a career that is remarkable for its diversity. From the performance of baroque music on period instruments to the founding of Norway's première 20th century music ensemble, BIT-20, he has demonstrated an enthusiasm for discovering new works and learning new performance styles. In 1985 he moved to Norway where he was Principal Leader of the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra. From 1993 leader of the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra, also professor of violin and viola at the University of Manitoba.
