Samuil (Schmuel) Feinberg was a Russian Jew, living 1890-1962. He wrote a lot of piano music, among which 12 Sonatas, in the virtuoso traditional Russian style. Here are the first 6. The famous Russian pianist Tatjana Nikolayevna called each of his Sonatas a "Poem of Life". His music has been fallen into oblivion, totally unjustly, as this CD shows, played by the virtuosi Nikolaos Samaltanos and Christophe Sirodeau (who made a name for themselves in BIS's Skalkottas Edition). Discovery, well worth the effort and the 5 bucks.
