Andreas Schmidt was born in Düsseldorf, Germany. He studied piano, organ and conducting in Cologne, then took singing tuition with Ingeborg Reichelt and Dietrich Fischer-Diskau. Concert tours and lieder recitals have taken Schmidt to the music centres of the world. In addition to his commitments as an opera and concert singer, he has also made a name for himself as a lied singer. Rudolf Jansen was born in Arnhem, Netherlands. He studied piano, organ and harpsichord at he Amsterdam Conservatory, where he is now a lecturer. He was awarded the Prix Excellence for organ in 1964, for piano in 1966 and since then he has specialized more and more on the field of chamber music and lieder accompaniment.
