The creation of a legend? French violonist Ginette Neveu (1919-1949) went, at the age of sixteen, to Warsaw for the Wieniawski Competition and took first prize away from the favorite, David Oistrakh. She was unable to pursue her career freely, owing to the Second world war. On October 1949, just after turning 30, she once again boarded an airplane with her (pianist) brother Jean to fly to concerts in America. The plane crashed at the Azores, leaving no servivors.
