Violinist Mark Lubotsky (born 1931 in Leningrad) received his training, among other places, at the Moscow Conservatoire. His teachers were Abraham Jampolsky and David Oistrach. Lubotsky has won several prizes in international violin competitions and appeared in a number of important musical centres. He is one of the best violinists of the 20th century. In 1976 he managed to emigrate from the Soviet Union to Holland, where he has been teaching at the Amsterdam Conservatoire, while continuing to make solo appearances.
