English violinist Tasmin Little (b1965).
Her flourishing career has taken her to every continent and to most of the major orchestras around the world. She performs with and directs orchestras such as the London Mozart Players, Britten Sinfonia and the Norwegian Chamber, Royal Philharmonic and European Union Chamber Orchestras. She continues to champion seldom-performed repertoire, and is one of the few violinists to have tackled Ligeti’s challenging Violin Concerto, which she toured with Sir Simon Rattle and the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra in 2003.
In recent years, she has also taken on the role of artistic director of two festivals: in July 2006, her hugely successful ‘Delius Inspired’ Festival was broadcast for a week on BBC Radio 3. In 2008, she began her first year as artistic director of the annual ‘Spring Sounds’ International Festival.
Tasmin Little’s extensive work in the community performing and talking to thousands of schoolchildren, young people and adults has brought her critical acclaim from a growing new audience, the world media, music observers and politicians alike. In the coming seasons, Tasmin Little looks forward to the continuation of collaborations with both British and international presenters, to combine recitals and concertos with imaginative and enduring outreach work.
