Some of Bach´s solo concertos exist in two versions - both as violin and harpsichord concertos. From this it can be deduced that concertos where only the harpsichord version has been handed down could also be based on missing drafts for violin or other lead instrument. In the case of the three harpsichord concertos BWV 1052 - 1054, which are included in the long-established and familiar series of seven relevant works, BWV 1052 - 1058, composed around 1738, the respective drafts for a lead instrument have partly not been handed down (BWV 1052/ 1053) and in part have quiet definitely been handed down (BWV 1054).
