Written for the Dutch-born saxophone virtuoso Edward A. Lefêbre, who is credited with introducing the saxophone to numerous countries including the USA. Lefêbre organized the New York Saxophone Quartet Club - also billed as the Wonder Quartette - and it was for this ensemble that Caryl Florio wrote his pioneering Quartet.
