"You my soul, you my heart,

You my bliss, O you my pain."

These words from Widmung, a song by Robert Schumann transcribed by his wife Clara, sum up the symbiotic relationship between these two great artists. Marriage bonds aside, they were to apply equally to Clara and Johannes Brahms. Whether in letters or in notes, this "trio" communed in the ideal and inexpressible realms of art. This is the inspiration behind Bulgarian pianist Plamena Mangova’s new album on the Mirare label.
