Rarely have I made such an impact on the musical world as when I was instrumental in introducing Alfred Schnittke's music to the West. I heard his Cello Sonata, was totally sold on it, went to Moscow, and we agreed that BIS should record his entire oeuvre. That we still haven't accomplished, but we have come a pretty far way, including recording all of his symphonies, from the No "zero" to the 9th.
These we boxed together and sold very cheaply, 6 CD:s for the price of 2, and they went like hotcakes. Very unfortunately the copyright rules have now changed so that we no longer can afford to sell the Boxes physically at that price level, the costs exceeding the income, but, since this doesn't apply to digital selling, we can still keep the price at that level for the first week here, and this we are now doing. Schnittke's Complete Symphonies at the price of 26:87, a bargain if ever there was one.
After this week the price will go up, and, as said, the physical Box will be rather more expensive in the future. Enjoy the music of a great man, brought to you by BIS!
