The historical background for this 'occasional piece' was the story of Olav Trygvason, the son of a Norwegian King, who was sailing home from England in the year 995. He was so moved and overcome by the Norwegian landscape and natural environment that he decided to have a cathedral built in Nidaros. Text: Björnstjerne Björnsson. Grieg revised Landkjenning in 1881.
Male voices from the Bergen Philharmonic Choir, Seim Songkor and Kor Vest.
