Rihm's Styx und Lethe for cello and orchestra. Styx and Lethe are the two mythological rivers of the Underworld. The concerto was written for cellist Lucas Fels. A single movement and continuous virtuoso demands made on the soloist, the process of shifting the music from the deep regions up to "clear heights", and going from the virtuoso to an "overwound" and selfdestructive 'ad ambsurdum'.
Fono Forum: outstanding.
