Rihm's Dritte Musik for violin and orchestra. The music was dedicated to the memory of Rihm's friend, Kurt Kocherscheidt (1943-1942), whose painting he had often listened to, 'from their innermost chords to their surface sounds. (Beholding his painting, 'Schwarze Schönheit', done in 1983)'.
