Brahms's great 'A German Requiem' with words from the Bible in Luther's translation is a requiem addressed to 'mankind'. Its subject is not so much the memory of the dead as the comfort of the living, which is evident from the choice of the biblical texts that Brahms himself put together.
Soloists: Donna Brown, soprano and Gilles Cachemaille, baritone.
