International Record Review: outstanding.
This album features two monumental choral works by Swedish composer Bengt Hambraeus, performed by the Swedish Radio Choir under the direction of Stefan Parkman. The first piece, *Motetum Archangeli Michaelis*, is a dynamic composition for mixed chorus and organ, inspired by the Archangel Michael's liturgical significance. The second, *Apocalipsis cum figuris secundum Dürer 1498*, is a large-scale work for bass, mixed chorus, and organ, drawing on the Book of Revelation and the apocalyptic imagery of Albrecht Dürer's woodcuts. Hambraeus blends liturgical texts with modernist techniques, creating a vivid exploration of eschatology, human struggle, and ultimate redemption.
