The conductor of the Russian Philharmonic Orchestra, Konstantin Krimets, was born in 1939 and trained at the conservatories of Kiev and Moscow, counting among his teachers Igor Markevich. He had thorough experience in conducting various orchestras throughout the former Soviet Union and his repertoire includes not only the classical repertoire of European and Russian music but also the work of contemporary composers, such as Alfred Schnittke and Edison Denisov
