In front of a restored famous painting of Mozart, where Mozart is holding an instrument which no one can recognize, lies the score of a work which can immediately be identified as what is generally known as the Horn Concerto No.4. The score is entitled 'Concerto in mi bemol maggiore per il Cornobone ed orchestra'. The instrument depicted is the wonderful Cornobone (hornbone, alto trombone). Christian Lindberg was given the chance to inspect the restored painting and has busied himself rebuilding a modern instrument, close to the original hornborne. The instrument is used in the recordings of the four 'horn' concertos.
Cadenzas by Christian Lindberg.
