German conductor and composer Horst-Hans Bäcker, born in Romania in 1959. He left Romania with his family in 1973 and came to Germany where he studied at the Wuppertal Musikhochschule. Between 1983 and 1986 he studied composition and ensemble direction at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and between 1986 and 1989 he completed his compositional studies at the Cologne Musikhochschule. In 1996 Bäcker established the International Philharmonic.
