Seven songs on poems by Ludwig Rellstab, six songs after Heinrich Heine and a single song by Johann Gabriel Seidl.
The Heine songs are definitely among Schubert’s most major and poignant works but each of the Rellstab songs is a gem in itself and convincing in this varied sequence.
