Musical as well as marital partners, Julia Igonina and Maxim Emelyanychev’s new album centres around a Satie-esque work written for them by Sergey Akhunov that was inspired by Henri Matisse’s ground-breaking book ‘Jazz’. Like Matisse’s book, these meditative miniatures have nothing to do with jazz, and are joined by other transcendent works by Poulenc and Messiaen for an album that has already reached almost 1M pre-release streams.
