The Royal Norwegian Navy Band

The Royal Norwegian Navy Band is one of five professional military bands in Norway. With its 32 full-time musicians this highly popular ensemble performs both in Norway and abroad. The Royal Norwegian Navy Band is based in Horten, a port in the east of the country, but regularly performs in the surrounding provinces. In recent years the band has undergone a profound musical development with exciting new projects, unique soloists, chamber music, contemporary music and thematic concerts. This has enhanced the artistic level of the band and established it as one of the leading wind ensembles in Norway. This development commenced during the six years that Nigel Boddice from the UK was principal conductor and has been continued under Leif Arne Pedersen who took over in the autumn of 2003.
