Bjørn Kåre Moe, was born in the Norwegian town of Hegra in 1946. He was a full-time music student from 1963 until 1973. He studied the organ under Ludvig Nielsen in Trondheim, Eduard Müller in Basel, Ji`´ri Reinberger in Prague and Gaston Litaize in Paris. He taught at the Trøndelag Conservatory in Trondheim from 1973 until 1984. He has since been the recipient of the Norwegian government’s guarantee-stipend for artists.
For many years Bjørn Kåre Moe was permanent stand-in for Ludvig Nielsen at the Nidarosdom. In 1969, at Nielsen’s request, he arranged Nielsen’s Te Deum for organ, strings, brass and percussion. The Te Deum has been performed in this version in the cathedrals at Ratzeburg and Oslo. Bjørn Kåre Moe has since produced an opus list of Nielsen’s music (57 pages published in 1996). Ludvig Nielsen, who died in 2001, bequeathed his musical archive to Bjørn Kåre Moe.
