The Minnesota Chorale

Founded in 1972, the Minnesota Chorale is principal chorus of the Minnesota Orchestra and ranks among the foremost symphonic choruses in the United States. Highlights include performances at the Aspen Music Festival, the 2000 America Cantat III Festival in Caracas, Venezuela, premièring John Tavener’s Ikon of Eros with the Minnesota Orchestra in 2003 and commissioning and premièring the choral-theatre work Adventures of the Black Dot (2005). Led by Kathy Saltzman Romey since 1995, the Chorale is dedicated to community partnership and education. Romey, the Chorale’s fifth artistic director and Minnesota Orchestra’s choral advisor, has prepared the Minnesota Chorale and numerous national and international choirs for performances under many outstanding conductors. She also serves as principal chorus master for the Oregon Bach Festival. A noted teacher and clinician, Romey is director of choral activities at the University of Minnesota.
