Peter Mattei

Swedish baritone Peter Mattei (born 1965). As one of the most sought-after singers of his generation, Peter Mattei has performed with conductors such as Sir Georg Solti, Claudio Abbado, Esa-Pekka Salonen and Herbert Blomstedt. It was his interpretation of the title role in Peter Brook’s production of Don Giovanni in Aix-en-Provence that brought him worldwide attention. Since then he has performed at leading opera houses such as the Metropolitan, La Scala, the Opéra National de Paris and La Monnaie in Brussels as well as at the festivals in Salzburg and Glyndebourne. Peter Mattei and Orphei Drängar have enjoyed a close relationship ever since their collaboration on the BIS recording Christmas Music (BIS-CD-533) in 1991.
