German organist Kay Johannsen (born 1961). 1st prize at the German Music Competition of the Spring Academy for New Music in Kassel 1992. Thanks to winning scholarships from the Study Foundation of the German People and the Bruno Walter Memorial Foundation in New York he was able to study church music, organ (solist diploma with distinction) and conducting in Freiburg and Boston. In 1991 he started teaching organ at the Karlsruhe Academy of Music. In 1998 appointed church music director of the Stiftskirche in Stuttgart.
