Norwegian bariton Trond Halstein Moe (born 1954) attracted much attention when he won the prestigious International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition in Vienna in 1987. A year later, he joined the Norwegian National Opera, performing roles such as Germont in La Traviata, Scarpia in Tosca, the title roles in Don Giovanni and Rigoletto, Marcello in La Bohème and Escamillo in Carmen.
