Peter Clemente, born in Munich in 1968, received his first violin lessons when he was seven from Mitsuko Date-Bosch. He studied at the colleges of music in Munich (under Ana Chumachenko) and Saarbrücken (under Valeri Klimov). Peter Clemente has attended masterclasses under Rainer Kussmaul, Thomas Brandis, Alice Schoenfeldt, Harvey Shapiro and others. He was a member of the German Federal Youth orchestra (Bundesjugendorchester) and of the European Youth Orchestra conducted by Claudio Abbado. Peter Clemente has won prizes at a number of national and international competitions including ‘Jugend musiziert’ (‘Youth Makes Music’), the ‘Bund Deutscher Industrie’ competition, the Michelangelo Abbado Competition in Sondrio, Italy, and the Vincenzo Bellini Competition in Caltanissetta, Italy. In 1998, with the Clemente Trio (Paul Rivinius, piano, and Konstantin Pfiz, cello) he won the ARD Competition in Munich. In the 1997/98 season the Clemente Trio was chosen as a Rising Star ensemble by the International Concert Hall Organization and gave concerts in prestigious concert halls in Europe and New York. Further concert tours have taken Peter Clemente – both as a soloist and as a member of the trio – to Italy, Spain, Monaco, the USA, Japan, Australia, Thailand and Vietnam.
