German violinist Kolja Blacher attended the Juilliard School of Music in New York at the age of fifteen and later studied with Sándor Végh in Salzburg. Since 1999 professor at the Hamburg Conservatory. He has made guest appearances with major orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, Leipzig's Gewandhaus Orchestra, the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe. Blacher plays the so-called 'Tritton' Stradivarius of 1730, acquired from Ms. Kimiko Powers in conncection with the Nippon Violin Museum.
