Dirk Altmann

German clarinetist Dirk Altmann (born 1965), first prize at the Federal German Competition 'Jugend musiziert' in 1981. Member of the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie whilst still studying, 1985 solo clarinetist with the SWR Radio Symphony Orchestra in Stuttgart. Altmann formed the Audace Trio, with which he travelled to Africa, India and the Near East. He is particularly interested in contemporary music and in 1999 formed the NewEars.Ensemble, the contemporary music ensemble of the Radio Symphony Orchestra in Stuttgart.
