Two of the main works by the iconoclastic composer Iannis Xenakis. When it was composed, the 'Psappha' was considered basically unplayable - now with the technical development of a new generation of solo percussionists, it is at least surmountable, as Gert Mortensen shows. The 'Pléïades' is a big work for percussion ensemble, and it is my feeling that it has never received a performance to equal this one, given by the world-famous Swedish percussion ensembles, Kroumata, in its heyday.
