The Finnish Turku Philharmonic Orchestra was founded in1790. It is the oldest orchestra in Finland and one of the oldest in the world, and became a municipal institution in 1927. The orchestra is closely involved with the Turku Nordic Music Centre, established in Turku in 2001.
