German Radio Philharmonic of Saarbrücken and Kaiserslautern was founded in 2007 through a merger of the Saarbrücken Radio Symphony Orchestra (SR) and the Kaiserslautern Radio Orchestra (SWR). Already considered one of the renowned orchestras of the ARD (Umbrella organization of the public broadcasting institutions).
