The live recording of Mozart's Piano Concerto in B major, KV 456, made in 1983, was conducted by Eugen Jochum, who was the first chief conductor of the then newly founded symphony orchestra from 1949 to 1960. Mozart's virtuoso work was written in Vienna in 1784 and is one of the so-called "military concerts" because it begins with a march-like main theme in the first movement.
