Nicolas Medtner and Rachmaninov are the most significant representatives of the Russian piano school founded in the nineteenth century by Balakirev, Mussorgsky and Anton Rubinstein. They were bound by a sincere brotherly friendship due to the similarity of their personal lives and artistic paths. For the Moldovan-born pianist Alexander Paley, to have these composers co coexist in an album is the logical outcome to his and their personal history.
