A world premiere!Who would have thought that the principal source for the music of Padre Antonio Soler was still waiting to be discovered? The manuscript acquired by the Morgan Library of New York in 2011 has proved to be the richest extant collection of sonatas by Soler; 29 of them are unpublished. For his first recording on harmonia mundi, the young harpsichordist Diego Ares reminds us of the powerful impression the composer made on a grandee of Spain in 1765: ‘Fray Antonio Soler produces finer sonatas from day to day.’ Listening to this disc, one cannot but agree: each sonata is indeed a world unto itself.

Une première mondiale !Et si la source principale de la musique du Padre Antonio Soler restait à découvrir ? Le manuscrit acquis en 2011 par la Morgan Library de New York s’impose en effet comme la collection la plus riche de sonates de Soler ; 29 d’entre elles sont inédites. Pour son premier enregistrement chez harmonia mundi, le jeune claveciniste Diego Ares nous remet en mémoire la forte impression qu’avait produite en 1765 le compositeur sur l’un des grands d’Espagne : “Fray Antonio Soler fait chaque jour de meilleures sonates (…)”. En écoutant ce disque, on s’incline : chaque sonate est bel et bien... un univers à part entière.

Das von der Morgan Library New York 2011 erworbene Manuskript gilt heute als die umfangreichste Sonaten-Sammlung von Soler – 29 von ihnen waren überdies noch unveröffentlicht.
