More than just a challenge to orthodoxy . . . Why should music ‘before Mozart' now be the sole preserve of period-instrument orchestras? For some years now, Ensemble Resonanz has challenged this idea, without ever neglecting the notion of the sheer pleasure to be derived from the concertos and symphonies of the great C. P. E. Bach. Like their guest soloist Jean-Guihen Queyras, all the musicians possess equal virtuosity in ‘historically informed' performance (with gut strings for the string sections) and on instruments with a ‘modern' setup (metal strings, as here). This is the first disc on harmonia mundi to celebrate their collaboration with maestro Riccardo Minasi.

À l'image de leur invité Jean-Guihen Queyras, tous les musiciens maîtrisent avec une égale virtuosité les interprétations " historiquement informées" (pour les cordes, sur boyaux) ou sur instruments montés "modernes" (comme ici, sur corde métal). Ce disque est le premier opus célébrant leur collaboration avec le maestro Riccardo Minasi pour harmonia mundi.

Bach. Dafür bedarf es Interpreten mit einer geradezu chamäleonhaften Gabe, sich zu verwandeln. Seit Jahren geben sich die Musiker des Ensemble Resonanz dieser Freude hin und haben zusammen mit Minasi und ihrem langjährigen Partner Jean-Guihen Queyras einen Klang entwickelt, der diese Musik auf modernen Streichinstrumenten neu entdeckt. Mit dieser Aufnahme feiert das Ensemble Resonanz den Einstand seiner Zusammenarbeit mit Riccardo Minasi für harmonia mundi.
