This is Michael Haydn's last work. It was commissioned by Empress Maria Theresa, who took a tremendous delight in church music and enjoyed singing the soprano solo parts in Michael Hadn's works. He began composing the piece in 1805 but he was unable to complete the work (illness and the vicissitudes of the French occupation of Salzburg) before death overtook him in August 1806. The Requiem remained a fragment. Soloists: Pamela Coburn, soprano, Ingeborg Danz, alto and Andreas Schmidt, bass.
