The Musical Offering is more than just a tribute collection, as it was created with the artistic co-operation of its designated recipient, Prussian King Fredrick II.The work is the gift of an outstanding composer to an outstanding monarch with - for his rank - outstanding musical ambitions. Most of the musicians featured in this recording are members of the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra and/or of the FBO-Consort.
