Allegro assai

The A major concerto, written one year after the dark-hued D minor concerto, seems to look back to the idyllic world of earlier years. Actually, however, it was one of Mozart's last attempts to satisfy the conservative taste ot the Viennese. Like his earlier concertos, Mozart most likely also wrote this piece for one of his 'Akademien', though it is not known for which. 1999 Cannes Classical Award.
