The album features Symphony No. 1 and Symphony No. 6 by the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Osmo Vänskä. These recordings, made in Glasgow's City Hall in August 1999 and August 2000, highlight the orchestra's skill and Vänskä's interpretative insight. The recording was supported by the BBC Scottish Symphony Club and produced by Robert Suff, with Ingo Petry as the sound engineer. The equipment used includes Neumann, Earthworks, and B&K microphones, with post-production editing by Jeffrey Ginn .
