Denisov's Peinture for orchestra is a synthesis of ten years of experimentation. The work is dedicated to the Russian painter Boris Birger, and has no concrete programme. The entire piece is composed on the basis of mixtures of sounds, but this basis always remains melodic. Contrabassoon solo: David Buckland.
