III. Misterioso

The Aho Contrabassoon Concerto, almost a symphony for contrabassoon and orchestra, is the most challenging work ever written for the contrabassoon (double bassoon, contra fagotto). But, according to American contrabasson virtuoso Lewis Lipnick, also the best. Lipnick hopes that it will inspire other composers and performers to follow Aho's lead and continue to challenge the possibilities of this most magnificent, misunderstood and musically underrated instrument.
