This work connects closely with the mode of composition that Pärt developed during the mid-1970:s. It is music with a strong tonal centre and a captivating repetitiveness. For Pärt his merging of the triad with the melody had religious connotations: the melodic voice symbolizes the 'daily egoistic life of sin and suffering' while the triadic voice represents the 'objective realm of forgiveness. The two different worlds are united; they become one voice. Outstanding: International Record Review, BBC Music Magazine.
