Alan Gilbert

American conductor Alan Gilbert (b. 1968).
He appears regularly with many of the world's leading orchestras. Chief conductor and artistic advisor of the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra for eight years since 1999, principal guest conductor of Hamburg's NDR Symphony Orchestra from 2004/2005. Gilbert has been widely praised for his performances of both standard and contemporary repertoire. He has won numerous awards, including the prestigious Seaver/National Endowment for the Arts Conductors Award in 1997. Gilbert also performs as a violinist. From 2009 music director of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra.
