II. Andantino quasi Allegretto

One of the most well-loved of Saint-Saëns's works. Written in March 1880 and premièred in October of the same year by its dedicatee, Pablo de Sarasate. Here we find all the lyricism, elegance and purity that were the principal characteristics of Sarasate's playing. The concerto has earned a place among the warhorses of solo violinists.
