Suk, Josef
Josef Suk
Bohemian composer Josef Suk (1874-1935).
He was the son-in-law of Antonin Dvorák and was also held to be an outstanding violinist, besides being considered one of the most significant creative spirits behind the art of Czech music. Often Suk is regarded as a 'link' between his teacher Dvorák and his pupil Bohuslav Martinù. In 1892 Suk and his fellow students at the Prague Conservatory founded the legendary Bohemian String Quartet, in which he played second violin until his death.
