Christian Sinding

Norwegian composer Christian Sinding (1856-1941). His most owerwhelmingly popular work has a German title; Frühlingsrauschen (The Rustle of Spring). It was in Germany that Sinding's reputation was greatest and from the 1890's he was there acclaimed - as, of course in Norway - as one of the major composers of the day. This was, seen from a later perspective, unfortunate for Sinding. If his music has been somewhat neglected, it may be the result of the overrating during his lifetime. He was a prolific composer, his catalogue of works stretching to 132 items.
