Johann Christoph Pepusch
German composer Johann Christoph Pepusch (1667-1752).
Most known for composing the music to 'The Beggar's Opera'. He was of German origin. Via the Netherlands he came to England where he worked as Kapellmeister at the opera and as a composer of operas. Pepusch was also a scholar and was awarded a musical doctorate by Oxford University.
