Lidholm - Orchestral Works 1958-1963

This album features orchestral works by Swedish composer Ingvar Lidholm, performed by the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Lü Jia. The program includes *Mutanza*, a composition that explores the interplay of sound and texture using an expanded percussion section and soloistic differentiation among instruments, and *Notturno-Canto*, a lyrical and dramatic piece drawn from Lidholm’s cantata *Skaldens natt*.

*Motus-colores*, commissioned by Südwestfunk, blends movement and color in a richly ornamented, chamber music-like orchestration, while *Riter* (Rites) is a ballet suite with evocative rhythms and vibrant timbres, drawing inspiration from the themes of tradition and sacrifice. Lidholm's compositions reflect his innovative approach to timbre, structure, and the emotional depth of orchestral music.
