Arwel Hughes



Welsh composer Arwel Hughes (1909-1988) was also a conductor - the conductor Owain Arwel Hughes is his son. Pupil of Ralph Vaughan Williams at the Royal College of Music. Hughes was subsequently to join the BBC's music department, becoming Head of Music for BBC Wales in 1965.
